Brazilian Ju jitsu ProgramThe ancient father of Judo, jujitsu was developed in feudal Japan for warfare, specially unarmed combat. Brought over to Brazil by Mitsuo Maeda in the early 1900s, Ju Jitsu is regarded by many as the ultimate non-armed fighting style.
MR. STEVE LIN, JU JITSU INTRUCTOR Later made popular by the Gracie family in 1925, Brazilian Ju Jitsu focuses on submissions and ground fighting. However, less emphasis is placed on strict traditional rules. Through years of refinement by Helio and Carlos Gracie, Brazilian Ju Jitsu (otherwise known as Gracie Ju Jitsu) has evolved into a style where a weaker skilled man can defeat a much larger opponent. Indeed, with its use of locks, submissions, joint manipulations, and throws, this style of combat will greatly complement any stand-up martial arts techniques such as Muay Thai and Tae Kwon Do. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (aka Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) is a highly-effective yet easy to learn martial art. You may have even seen it on TV shows like The Ultimate Fighter. It is the premiere grappling art, involving throws, pinning and escaping techniques, chokes, arm locks, and leg locks. Size, strength, or speed are not pre-requisites to becoming proficient in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It's techniques enable even smaller people to overcome larger, stronger opponents. Our BJJ/Submission Wrestling classes are appropriate for men, women and teens (over 14 years old) of all ages and fitness levels (no one is too old or too out of shape!). Each class is a fun and enjoyable workout that will build muscle tone, cardio, flexibility and coordination. You will get in great shape, you will learn how to use your body to it's MAXIMUM potential, you'll gain tremendous self-confidence, AND you will learn amazing self-defense/combat skills. We serve everyone from the fitness-minded person who is looking for a fun way to get or stay in shape, while learning an EFFECTIVE martial art, and the very serious athlete who is looking to compete and win medals.
